IRC crowd management
I've told *everyone* about this, but I'll go ahead and post it here to make it "official".
Should the site go down again and refer everyone to #macheist, we (the ops) should do the following:
- +m #macheist
- Voice people who request +v if they have something to say
- Promote #mh-chat for general chatter and banter
- If we get a high rate of joins, we should post a set of instructions with the latest information every few minutes. One person should be assigned to that job to keep things uncomplicated.
- Be prepared to take community-related matters such as a vote or extensive discussion on one subject to a new channel as we did with application recommendations.
We sorta did that for SW and it seemed to work pretty well. I'd love to see more of it.
Any thoughts?
